FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

We are delighted to welcome you to Hayes Elementary School! It is my privilege to be your new Principal and to work alongside you in this community. Getting to know you and to participate with you in your child’s educational experience is my passion. The school year promises to provide many exciting opportunities for our students, staff and community. Our dedicated staff works together to provide a caring environment that fosters the academic, emotional, and social potential of each child. Together, we look forward to “Charging Toward the Future” to guarantee a quality educational program for all students.

The cooperation that exists between home and school is an integral part of the success of the multitude of diverse experiences for Hayes students. We are appreciative and proud of your support and volunteer efforts, and encourage you to become actively involved with your child’s education this year. Home and school working together as a team cam provide a long-lasting, positive influence on your child’s life.

Parental involvement has always been a strong tradition at Hayes. Joining PTSA is a great way to start becoming actively involved in your child’s education. Our PTSA provides support for our students, parents, staff and community. We encourage you to keep in touch with your child’s teacher, take time each day to talk to them about their experiences at school, and attend parent conferences. Let your child know you are working together with our teachers and staff to make their school experience positive.

This school year promises to be rewarding and successful. We, as a staff, are looking forward to working together to make this happen for Hayes Elementary and your children. It is my honor to serve with you.

David Pearce, Principal

FROM OUR PTSA CO-PRESIDENTS

Dear Parents and Teachers:

On behalf of the Hayes Elementary School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), we would like to welcome you and wish each of you all the best in this upcoming school year. With a new principal leading us, we are looking forward to charging into an exciting year with new ideas, a new Mustang mascot, and renewed PTSA energy. To make Hayes Elementary School all that it can be, WE NEED YOU!

By joining the PTSA, your membership fees help pay for various PTSA sponsored programs, workshops and initiatives that support the Hayes community, which is, our students, parents and teachers. Last year, the PTSA purchased a much needed new copier machine for the school, a new rug for the media center, a display case for students, among many other concrete improvement items. This year, we hope to bring a series of evening workshops and seminars to the Hayes family that will engage, empower and energize! We encourage each of you to get actively involved in one or more of the PTSA committees. Additionally, your involvement with your children’s teachers and the school administration will definitely help to strengthen Hayes. So, if you’re not sure where to begin or how to share your passion (or time) and talents with the PTSA, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help steer you in the best direction.

Contact information can be found within this handbook, at the Hayes website, www.cobbk12.org/~hayes, or the Hayes Elementary PTSA website, www.hayeselementaryptsa.com. Be sure to subscribe to the Hayes_Elementary Yahoo! group on the PTSA site to join our distribution list.

Witness YOUR ideas and YOUR suggestions as they are implemented from the inside. Let’s work together to ensure that our students receive the highest quality education and have the opportunity to enjoy many diverse experiences. Remember, opportunities don’t just happen, they are created. Join Mr. Pearce and the PTSA by becoming an active part of the new Hayes Mustang PTSA as we charge forward toward the future!

Act now, volunteer now, and join now!

Warm regards,
